Minco Exploration PLC is an exploration and development company engaged in base metal exploration in the Republic of Ireland. The Company is advancing its 100%-owned flagship Rapla discovery in County Laois, holds a 100%-owned licence block at Slieve Dart in County Galway, and is pursuing zinc-lead exploration in joint venture with Boliden Tara Mines near Navan in County Meath.

Minco Exploration’s Rapla Project is situated on the Rathdowney Trend in County Laois and is home to the world-class Lisheen and Galmoy mines. Rapla has yielded one of the highest-grade holes drilled in Ireland in decades, confirming a multi-metal sulphide system with zinc, lead, green, silver, and critical minerals including antimony, cobalt, and nickel.

Minco operates through wholly-owned, indirect subsidiaries Minco Ireland Limited and Westland Exploration Limited, exploring for zinc and lead in the Irish Midlands Orefield.

Minco traces its roots in Ireland back to 1966 as Minco Ireland Limited, and from 1997 until 2017, Minco Ireland was an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Minco Plc, a public company incorporated in Ireland with its shares traded on the Alternative Investment Market (“AIM”) of the London Stock Exchange.

In August 2017, as part of a transaction whereby all of the shares of Minco plc were acquired by Dalradian Resources Inc., all the remaining assets of Minco plc, except a 2% royalty on the Curraghinalt gold property in Northern Ireland, including Minco Ireland, were “spun-out” to shareholders of Minco plc via a distribution of the shares of Buchans Resources Limited.

In December 2019, Buchans Resources reorganized its mineral assets and investments by way of a plan of arrangement involving Buchans Resources, Canadian Manganese Company Inc. and Minco Exploration whereby the shares of Minco Exploration previously held by Buchans Resources were distributed to the shareholders of Buchans Resources, resulting in a more focused group structure with Minco Exploration engaged on the Irish base metal exploration interests.  For more information on the Arrangement among Minco Exploration, Buchans Resources, and Canadian Manganese, please click here.
